16 Ways to Declutter Your Craft Space - Part 1
A new year is here! As you fill in your calendar and set new goals, now is a great time to prioritize organization. Set yourself up for the best, most relaxing year of crafting by dedicating time to organizing your craft space. We’re here to help with 16 new ways to organize your craft and unleash your creativity in the New Year!
1. Sort and Categorize
The first and most important step in organizing your supplies is sorting and categorizing. Gather all your supplies and sort them into categories such as paper, embellishments, tools, stamps, dies, and inks. This makes it easier to see what you have and what you can let go. This is also a great time to create a donation pile and a throwaway pile for old or seldom-used items.
Another way to sort your supplies is by date of purchase. This method might take a bit longer, but it will make it easier to see which items are dated and don’t reflect your current style.
2. Purge Unused Items
After you set out all your supplies, be honest about what you use. Donate, sell, or throw away supplies you haven’t touched in over a year to free up space. If you think you’ll use an unopened item, keep it in a spot where you won’t forget to use it this year.
3. Create a Labeling System
Use labels on drawers, jars, sleeves, or crates to quickly locate what you need without rummaging through everything. Labels help you know where things are and where to put them back once you use them.
If you organize your supplies by color, label them with matching colors of cardstock for easy identification! Keep your similarly colored supplies together in a drawer or on a shelf, and use colorful labels to categorize them in rainbow order.
4. Invest in Functional Storage
Stop digging through bins to find what you need. Instead, utilize drawer cabinets, paper shelves, and other functional craft storage solutions that keep your supplies organized, accessible, and ready to craft! Choose desks and shelves with built-in storage features to maximize your storage space in every area of your craft room.
5. Use Wall Space
When you run out of floor space, or if your space feels cluttered, go vertical! Utilize wall space to store items you prefer to have quickly in view and reach while you craft. Install pegboards, shelves, or wall-mounted solutions for ink pads, stamps, tools, ribbons, and other frequently used items.
Vertical storage options keep your supplies at eye level, making them easier to find. When you see what you need, simply take it down from the wall and bring it to your work surface to get started. For a space-saving stamp and die storage solution, check out the Stamp Case Tower!
