16 Ways to Declutter Your Craft Space - Part 3

Let's take a look at the last six ways to declutter your craft space in the New Year! If you missed it, check out Part 1 & Part 2. In Part 3, we'll learn how to sort digital patterns, create a craft supply inventory, establish organizational schedules and routines, and more. Prepare to organize your craft, and unleash your creativity!

11. Digitize Patterns and Instructions

When you purchase a crafting tool, machine, or kit, it often comes with printed instructions. While saving these instruction manuals in case you need to refer to them later is a good idea, doing so can add unnecessary clutter to your crafting space.

One standard solution for storing these essential papers is in a file folder or a junk drawer. To reduce clutter, scan or photograph project patterns and instruction manuals and store them digitally instead. Use programs like Excel, Google Drive, or Google Sheets to organize your files and make them easy to find.

12. Incorporate Multi-Functional Furniture

To maximize functionality, use furniture with built-in storage, such as desks with drawers or paper storage. Stamp-n-Storage Desk Bases allow you to customize your craft space to meet your needs. Pair our Desk Bases with ready-made IKEA® countertops that fit your space's dimensions and aesthetics. For a more personalized touch, DIY your countertops with reclaimed wood, or work with a carpenter to create a custom desk design tailored to your space. 13. Create a Craft Supply Inventory

Creating a craft supply inventory is one of the most essential steps in craft organization. Knowing what you have and where everything is stored is important for various reasons. First, keeping a list of your supplies helps prevent overbuying. When buying new supplies, you can look at your inventory and be reminded of what you already have. This also prevents you from accidentally getting duplicates of your supplies. Creating an inventory also makes it easier to find what you need and know exactly where to put it back once you finish using it. When everything has a home, you don’t end up putting supplies “wherever they fit.” Create your own craft supply inventory with our free download!

14. Set Up a "Declutter Day" Schedule

Once you’ve organized your space, set up a regular decluttering schedule to keep your space looking beautiful year-round. Choose one day (or more!) each month to reassess your space and remove items that are no longer useful. Creating a “Declutter Day” schedule will help you to stay organized and inspired each time you craft. Take away the stress of crafty cleaning by staying consistent with routine updates to your craft supply inventory and the layout of your space. Remember, the goal of organizing your space is to create a crafting haven that works best for you! Download our free printable monthly declutter calendar to start making your schedule today!

15. Rotate Seasonal Supplies

Arrange your supplies according to the seasons to maintain a fresh and efficient craft space. Keep your most frequently used items close to your work area, while seasonal or holiday supplies, such as Christmas ribbons and Halloween-themed paper, should be stored out of easy reach. This approach will ensure your room remains tidy and focused on year-round essentials. When the holidays approach, swap the season-specific supplies into your main crafting area and store away the supplies from the prior holiday.

16. Establish a Clean-Up Routine

Dedicate the last 5–10 minutes of your crafting session to tidying up so your space stays organized. With the proper storage solutions, you can quickly transform your creative chaos into organized bliss.
