Create an Organized & Efficient Craft Space: Tip Eight

Tip Eight: Create Workstations with Your Supplies at That Workstation

Create a workflow and workstations within that flow for an efficient crafting experience. For example, ink pads should be stored near your stamping work station, and dies should be stored near your die cutting station.

Why

Spending time in your craft room should be enjoyable, fun, and stress-free. However, when the workflow is disorganized, it creates more frustration than relaxation. Having to spend extra time moving things from one place to the next cuts into valuable craft time. When disorganization happens, things start to feel cluttered and claustrophobic. However, when you spend the time creating workstations and setting a place for each supply, craft time becomes more efficient and enjoyable.

How

  • Ask Yourself Questions: To start building your workflow, ask yourself questions like:
    • What do I do consistently each time I’m in my craft room? What is my work flow?
    • What supplies do I truly need?
    • How can I improve my space?
    • What works in my room? What doesn’t?
  • Evaluate Your Space: If you have a large craft room, you may have space for many workstations. If you have a smaller room, it is beneficial to create zones that you use most often. For example, if you’re a card maker, consider making your stamping and die cutting stations an essential.
  • Create Stations or Zones: Whether you enjoy paper crafting, scrapbooking, painting, etc., it’s important to have a station dedicated to each step in your creative process. An example may be:
    1. Station One – Paper and Cutting (Paper Trimmer and Die Cutting Machine)
    2. Station Two – Stamping (Stamps and Inks)
    3. Station Three – Assembly (Tools like scissors, tape runners, and adhesives)

Creating workstations doesn’t have to be difficult. Take it one step at a time as you achieve your goal of having an organized and efficient craft room!

Extra Tip: Utilize Stamp-n-Storage Products to Optimize Your Workstations

Using Stamp-n-Storage products can help you create efficient and organized workstations. Here are a few suggestions:

  • Paper Holders: Keep your paper and scraps organized and within reach at your paper and cutting station.

  • Ink Pad Holders: Store your ink pads neatly at your stamping station. This allows you to immediately replace an ink pad into its storage slot after use, keeping the clutter of your work area.

  • Tool Tray or Desk Caddy: Keep your essential tools organized and easily accessible at your assembly station.
