Studio Showcase: Devon
For many creatives, crafting is the perfect way to relax, unwind, and process the events of everyday life. This month’s Studio Showcase winner, Devon, likes to craft for that same reason. Retreating to her beautifully organized craft room allows Devon to ground herself and unleash her creativity.
“Crafting is my therapy. Whenever I have a long day or even just need a minute, I just go work on a crafting activity or project so I can refocus and have peace.”
When she first started crafting, Devon spent most of her time using her Cricut to work on small projects for friends and family. She then discovered a passion for paper and wood crafting. As her love for crafting grew, so did her desire to create a craft space that efficiently stored and organized her various tools, materials, and supplies.
Devon’s inspiration for her craft room layout came from her favorite crafts tools and her eye for design. She wanted her craft room to feel calm, inviting, and organized.
“It took me quite some time to dream up a layout for my craft room. I spent months looking on Pinterest getting ideas of cabinetry and what I wanted the focus of my room to be. I also needed a place of therapy. What better place to breathe and focus than a well-organized room to do anything you can dream of? Since I am extremely interested in laser cutting, I wanted to have a dedicated island for my Glowforge Machine so I could have lots of room to work. I also love crafting with paper, so I created the paper wall in my room with the wonderful help of Stamp-n-Storage. I wanted my room to be organized so everyone who entered my home felt invited to venture into my crafting world. I wanted the craft room to be "the place to be" in my home and it does not disappoint.”

One of our favorite features in Devon’s room is her paper wall. Her beautiful collection of colored cardstock is sure to spark creativity, and its rainbow of color is great for seeing all of her paper in one place.
“I am very much a color-coded kind of girl. I tried my best to pair colors together so that when I am working on a project, I can go straight to the kinds of colors I need. It is important to have them organized so that you are spending more time on your project and less time searching. I love that my wall is tall and that I can store as many colors as I want. 12X12 Cardstock Shoppe has so many types of papers ranging in colors, textures and weights. My ultimate goal with the paper wall was to have an endless supply of paper... all projects are possible!”

Devon loves her crafting room for so many reasons, but she is most proud of how well she was able to utilize its small dimensions to her benefit.
“I absolutely love that my craft room is small but mighty! My room holds a lot of tools and is organized to the max.”

Fall is a fun time to craft with all of the changing colors and the ambience of the season. After Devon's craft room was complete, one of her first projects she created was for Halloween.
“One of the first and favorite projects I did when my room was completed was some Disney character lollipop holders for Halloween. I got this super awesome template from Cricut and used my endless supply of paper from my paper wall. I had so much fun making these for the kiddos in the neighborhood during Halloween. The kids also really loved getting something homemade but also a piece of candy. To me, giving something homemade shows passion and thought.”
We want to thank Devon for showing us her space and sharing her story! Here’s one last piece of advice from Devon to all the crafters looking to organize their space:
“The advice I would give would be to take your time to plan out your space and then focus on what items or tools you want to complete your organization and accessibility.”
